Overview
SHIFT
Short film · 2026 · Written and directed by Ioanna Skylogianni
After a fellow waiter suddenly quits, Nina is forced to cover the night shift at the bar where she works. Since public transport shuts down after midnight, she struggles to think of a way to return home without wasting, once again, most of her wage on a taxi ride. Moving between customers, coworkers and the hidden routines of the bar, Nina slowly finds herself becoming an integral part of the same unforgiving environment that initially appalled her and is slowly consuming her, one night at a time.

In Depth
Having worked as a waitress for almost a decade before entering the film industry, SHIFT comes from a world Ioanna Skylogianni knows too well. The film grew from experiences shared with her younger sister, who plays Nina, and from watching artists and young workers balance creative ambitions with service jobs they depend on to survive.
Ioanna Skylogianni is a Greek assistant director and filmmaker. She studied Film at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and, after more than ten years working in Greek and international film productions, directed her first short film, SHIFT.
