In Depth

Diving in together—and not just into the sea!

With Waves, we used our minds and bodies—all of our senses —to understand the relationship we have with the water; the connections we have with our marine environments as part of a collective.

Alongside young learners from Spain, Italy, Greece, and the Czech Republic, we looked closely at marine life, named the emotions the sea stirs in us, and collectively questioned human responsibility for the pollution and destruction of marine ecosystems. Then came the leap: recognizing the sea as a civic and social space, a real and proper commons for our health, our rights and human and more than human quality of life—a horizon that calls for collective awareness, connection and care.

Waves was carried out within the framework of Maghweb’s ExChange 2025 programme, supported by the Agenzia Italiana Gioventù and organised in collaboration with Youth.progress, Cinergies, and Asociación Cervantear.

Heartfelt thanks to @booq for the hospitality: a welcoming harbor where ideas, perspectives, and curiosities found a home
